Aine's blog Pea Soup Eats is one of my favorite blogs. I draw inspirations from her world relate to food,
life style, fashion and natural living. She cooks great vegan meals and I can't stop myself trying many of them
by myself. In her blog, you can not only check her recipes but also you can see her colorful style. I think she
is so good on combining vintage/new garments that's why I wasn't surprised that I saw she's writing about
fashion on one of my favorite mags; Hunger. Here is the interview of Aine Carlin, enjoy!
LIFE
* What do you do for a living?
I’m
a freelance writer. I’ve also just been offered a book deal, which will be
released in September 2014.
- Food – making and eating it.
- Film – watching and creating them.
- Pottering – inside, outside and in thrift shops too.
Jaws. I’ve always had a fascination with the seventies and the sea (and Spielberg) so it’s a perfect combo.
* Which song makes you happy?
Together in
Electric Dreams by Philip Oakley and Giorgio Moroder.
* What are your inspirations in life?
Living
in Cornwall is so inspiring in itself – I never get tired of exploring the
nooks and crannies of Penzance,
Mousehole or my favourite place in the world…
St.Ives. I’m also continually buoyed by my Husband’s
unfailing faith and
support in me - he makes me believe I can do whatever I put my mind to, which
gives me
the confidence (I so desperately need!) to keep going in my chosen
career. As for the future, I try not to
plan too far ahead and just try to take
the time to enjoy each and every day – life is all about the little
moments, if
you take care of those, the bigger picture will form itself.
STYLE
* How do you describe your style?
Changeable. I veer between girly retro and casual tomboy but always with a vintage edge.
My style is ever evolving but the one thing that always stays the same is my love for secondhand clothing.
Practicality is also really important to me - first and foremost I must feel comfortable in what I wear; no
suffering in the name of fashion for me!
* If your style is a movie character who would she/he be?
That’s a hard one but I’ve often been told I look and dress a little like Amelie.
* If you have a color palette, which colors you put together to create your style?
Again, it changes regularly but I do seem to own a considerable amount of blue, in all its many and varied
shades. I also love to pair up icky colours like mustard, brown and beige, and I definitely have an unhealthy
liking for putrid shades of green. Sometimes though, I just can’t leave the house without whacking on a bit of
colour even if it’s in the form of a bright scarf, of which I have way, way too many.
CITY
*
Falmouth
in Cornwall, England.
I’m pretty
new to this town so am still discovering the best bits myself. However, I do
love our local
vegetarian restaurant Peasouk and there’s also a terrific vintage store called Mondo Trasho Vintage.
The
scenery is probably the best part of living in Cornwall though so I recommend
taking a long walk along
the harbour, out towards some of the small beaches,
and just take it all in – there is so much to see!
* Which city do you want to live for the future?
San
Francisco. It definitely sounds like my kind of town.
